1. Why visit the International Wolf Center?

2. What is the best time to arrive at the International Wolf Center?

To see our ambassador wolves during their most active times, arrive when the Center opens or if you arrive later, extend your visit to closing time. In addition, the wolves are more active in cooler weather which means they are most active in the mornings and evenings in warm weather and could be active any time during winter. In the summer months and on holidays it can get crowded, so plan your visit accordingly. Admissions information.

3. Do programs ever sell out?

Yes, some programs may sell out early in the day during busy seasons. Reserve spots in advance to make sure you get in. Visit our Daily Programs page for reservation information.

4. Are there age restrictions for programs?

Yes, some programs do have a minimum age requirement as well as parental supervision requirements. However, we do offer a variety of programs and exhibits for individuals of all ages, including a children's exhibit. Please check our Daily Programs page for more details.

5. Do programs ever get cancelled?

Yes, some programs may be cancelled. We try our best not to cancel programs, but on occasion it may happen. We require a minimum number of participants for some programming. Please be sure to reserve a seat in advance so we can plan accordingly. It is also a good idea to call a day or two prior to your visit to check the status of any programs you have registered for, 1-800-ELY-WOLF (1-800-359-9653) ext. 25 or 30 on weekends.

6. How long should I plan for my visit?

The average visit lasts about 2 hours. However, visits can vary from 1 hour to 1 week depending upon the programs you attend and how interested in wolves you are!

7. Does the International Wolf Center offer any discounts?

International Wolf Center members receive free admission, as well as 10% off additional fee programs and items purchased in the Wolf Den Gift Shop. Learn more about becoming a member.

Groups of 15 or more with reservations receive our group rate. Learn more about group visits.

We also offer a senior discount on admission pricing.

8. Can I take pictures?

Yes! The ambassador wolves are very photogenic! However, for preservation of taxidermied pelts and museum artifacts flashes must be turned off and are prohibited in certain areas.

9. Are seats reserved in all programs?

No. Daily programs are first come, first seated! Get to the video or program of your choice early to get the seat of your choice. Seats are not reserved and may go quickly on weekends and holidays in the summer. Reservations are necessary for additional fee programs such as the Wolf Communication Field Trip, Animal Tracking Hikes or the What's For Dinner? feeding program.

10. What should I do to avoid getting separated form my groups?

Although it doesn't happen often, before you start exploring you may want to designate a meeting place (such as Wolf Den Store) and a time just in case your group gets separated. We do not offer a paging system within the building.

11. Can I rent a stroller?

We currently do not offer stroller rentals.

12. Can I rent a wheelchair?

The International Wolf Center offers one wheelchair for use free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

13. Can we bring a bag lunch?

Yes, picnic tables are available outside and group visits may be permitted to lunch in the observation area with advanced coordination. Refreshments are not available for purchase at the Center. For area restaurant information visit the Ely Chamber of Commerce.

14. Do you have any lockers?

No, please leave all personal items in your vehicle or on your person. We cannot be responsible for personal items left unattended.

15. Is there free parking?

Yes, we have a large parking area able to accommodate a large variety of vehicles including R.V.'s and vehicles with trailers.

16. What services does the International Wolf Center provide for disabled individuals?

Entrances/exits, exhibits and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. We have two areas with raised seating or steps. Within those areas, we have provided areas for wheelchair placement. If there are more than two individuals in your group with special seating needs.

Sign language interpretation is available for hearing impaired individuals with a minimum of two weeks notice of your visit.

An exhibit tour for visually impaired individuals is available with a minimum of two weeks notice of your visit.

17. Are pets allowed inside the Center?

Only trained guide dogs are allowed inside the Center. All other pets are allowed in designated areas on Center property while on leash. Animal waste removal is required.

18. How do I get to the International Wolf Center and where do I stay?
