Take your students on a trip to the International Wolf
Center in Ely, Minnesota without setting foot outside your
own classroom! Using the latest technology, we offer
engaging Distance Learning programs for a variety of
audiences via two-way videoconferencing.
All programs meet appropriate state and national
education standards. Students participate in learning
activities about wolf ecology and behavior, comparative
literature, and more. Programs infuse science, social
studies, language arts, math, and geography for a virtual
field trip experience.
All Distance Learning programs feature live wolf
"guests" running, tussling, and possibly even howling
in their naturalized habitat.
"The presenter did a great job communicating
with students on their level. The students talked about
the program all day. The real wolves kept the students
engaged. The presenter kept the students involved."
Godley Intermediate School, Godley, TX

Grades 3 - 7
Explore the world of the wolf! Using the wolf as a
fascinating case study, students examine the important
roles that predators, prey and scavengers play in three
ecosystems where wolves live. Through an interactive
simulation we will demonstrate the way energy and nutrients
flow through an ecosystem. All programs feature real-time
observations of the International Wolf Center's resident
ambassador wolves.
Cost: $120 Length: 45 - 60 minutes
Grades 1 - 5
Who's afraid of the "big, bad wolf"? In this interactive
program, students explore the influential role that
literature plays forming our views and attitudes towards
wildlife. We compare and contrast two folk stories in
which the wolf is a main character, then compare literary
portrayals of wolves with the real thing! All programs
feature real-time observations of the International Wolf
Center's resident ambassador wolves.
Cost: $120 Length: 45 - 60 minutes

What people are saying about International Wolf Center distance learning programs...
- "I really liked your presentation. You taught
me a lot about a wolf. It was amazing how they howled.
I liked MacKenzie because she looked nice and cozy.
I learned that a wolf uses signals. Thank you."
-Jamie, 4th grade
- "Thank you for teaching us so much about
wolves. My favorite wolf is the white one. I think
the wolves are extremely cool. Here are some important
things I learned. I learned that wolves can howl
loudly, they would die if they couldn't eat meat, and
that they sometimes kick wolves out of the pack. I
liked talking to you." -Jake, 4th grade
- "The opportunity to learn and see directly
through the use of videoconferencing was not only a
groundbreaking experience, but allowed us to visit
places that would normally be out of the question.
Virtual Fieldtrips has opened a wide variety of
opportunities for our students to explore. It was a
wonderful experience!" -Sherry Green, School
Age Care Coordinator, MN District #197
- "Our students haven't stopped talking about
wolves. This program truly excited them and engaged
them in learning. I am beginning my animal adaptations
unit now and will am using this conference as a tool
to introduce the unit since students are so
interested in wolves right now." -Buda
Elementary, Hays, TX
- "The students were able to experience something
that we otherwise would not get to experience in
Texas. The students were completely engaged."
-Fuentes Elementary, Hays, TX
- "The students were able to observe the wolves
from a variety of cameras. The ability of Andrea to
pan around the enclosure and zoom in on features and
wolves really made it a special experience for the
kids. The program really made the animals more "real"
to the kids instead of just being scary animals in
books. The howling and the video from the enclosure
were fantastic!" -Bailey's Elementary School,
Falls Church, VA
