The Wolf and You

The International Wolf Center has an exhibit ready to travel to you. This wall display unit and accompanying interactives capture the essence of the wolf's relationship to humans in our modern world.

Wall Display

With a captivating center graphic, viewers are drawn in and motivated to learn about this intriguing subject. Then, each of four side panels tells a brief chapter in the story of the wolf's relationship with humans over time.

  • Time: this panel summarizes the wolf's journey from persecution to protection in North America. The question of the wolf's future is illustrated with a map of the US Fish and Wildlife Service's delineation of the wolf's status and Distinct Population Segments.
  • Spirit: here the wolf's past and current range in North America portray the wolf's ability to adapt and thrive.
  • Conflict: a survey of differing attitudes towards wolves invites viewers to compare their own attitudes with those of survey respondents.
  • Economics: data tables compare livestock losses and compensation paid to farmers over time.

Interactives
Five interactive elements are available to complement the exhibit.

  1. Did You Know? - Flip book on wooden base with ten Q and A pages.
  2. Living Room: wolves and humans together - Magnetic board with magnet playing pieces. Viewers place the magnets to indicate their opinions about where the wolves should live vs. where the human activity should take place.
  3. Let's Talk! - Flip book on wooden base with ten pages of engaging photos of wolves. Accompanying post-it note pad invites viewers to leave comments about what the pictures make them think or feel.
  4. Coin Drop - Viewers vote for their opinion about what the wolf's future should be by putting coins in the corresponding column. Note that money collected will be donated to the International Wolf Center.
  5. Timeline puzzle - 4' x 5' floor puzzle with a timeline of important wolf events in North America.

Note: Interactives are only available as a group.
