Iyad A. Nader, King Khalid Wildlife Research Centre, National Commission for Wildlife Conservation and Development, PO Box 61681, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The status and distribution of the Arabian wolf in Saudi Arabia are discussed. The wolf is considered vulnerable and the legal status of wolves in Saudi Arabia is described. Threats to the wolf population in Saudi Arabia are discussed, including the resentment that wolf attacks on domestic animals cause among shepherds. The meager information which is available on the biology of the Arabian wolf is reviewed. A map illustrating the currently known distribution of the wolf in the Arabian Peninsula is presented.
