In Appreciation of Wendy Brown

On behalf of the global wolf community, on this day February 25, 2000, we present this certificate of recognition to Wendy Brown, in honor of her efforts to help restore Mexican Wolves. Among Wendy's long list of accomplishments, we wish to acknowledge the following efforts:

  • Wendy transitioned seamlessly from working with cranes to the challenging world of wolves.

  • Working tirelessly on mounds of paperwork, Wendy proved crucial in the efforts that allowed the momentous Mexican Wolf reintroduction.

  • Wendy held together a very complex multi-agency Mexican Wolf reintroduction field team, creating cooperation among the United States Fish and Wildlife Service, United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Service, New Mexico Department of Fish and Game, and the Arizona Department of Fish and Game.

  • Putting forth Herculean efforts to gather acceptance of the Mexican Wolf effort in local communities, Wendy diligently spread sound biology mixed with steadfast devotion for the wolf. She worked, lived and participated within communities affected by the reintroduction.

  • After Dave Parson's retirement,Wendy stepped up to the plate as the de facto Recovery Coordinator to continue his hard work. We can be ensured that the Mexican Wolf will have a home in the Southwest because of her role in this historical event.
The Board of Directors, Staff and Members of the International Wolf Center wish to thank you for your many contributions on behalf of wolf recovery and conservation.
