There are currently no established wolf populations in Austria, however the proximity of populations in adjacent countries may allow for wolves to move into Austria in the future.
January 31, 2011 Reports from the World Wildlife Fund claim there are between two and five wolves in Austria. These wolves have been observed individually on separate occasions and are believed to be independent dispersers traveling through rather than establishing territories.
