The International Wolf Center announced today that they have received
an $8,000 educational grant from Target Corporation. In a letter
from Laysha Ward, Director of Target Corporation Community Relations
and the Target Foundation, the International Wolf Center was praised
as an organization that makes "our communities a better place to
live and work."
"The International Wolf Center is very honored to receive such
a generous gift from the Target Corporation. With their strong history
of community support, they are recognized as one of the most charitable
and responsibly run corporations in the world," said Walter M. Medwid,
executive director of the Center. "This gift will help us to reach
more people with our educational messages supporting the conservation
of wolves and their wild lands," explained Medwid.
With a battery of educational tools, including an interpretive
center in Ely, Minnesota, a magazine distributed worldwide, their
participation in numerous public forums and a Web site (www.wolf.org)
with over 800 pages of educational material, the International Wolf
Center is regarded as the world's primary source of objective, science
based wolf and wild lands information.
The Target Corporation family of giving programs, comprised of
Target, Marshall Field's and Mervyn's, is committed to giving back
to the communities in which their stores operate. This year alone,
they will give over $100 million to worthy nonprofit organizations
nationwide.
