Forest Management: Past, Present & Future

July 28, 2003

The BWCAW brings thousands of visitors to Northern Minnesota each year. Take some time on Monday, July 28 to learn more about the forest that draws in so many people. The student chapter of the Society of American Foresters at Vermilion College is hosting this fourth edition of Nature Nights at the International wolf Center with a presentation exploring the past, present, and future management of forests in Minnesota. The program begins at 7pm and is free and open to the public.

The presentation will start with video highlights of the early logging days in northern Minnesota. It will be followed by a discussion led by representatives from local resource agencies, including the State of Minnesota, St Louis County, Iron Range Resource and Rehabilitation Agency, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions from this panel of forest experts and learn more about the dynamic nature of forest management and what our future holds.

Nature Nights is sponsored by the International Wolf Center, North American Bear Center, Listening Point Foundation, Dorothy Molter Museum, Vermilion Community College, U.S. Forest Service and Boundary Waters Wilderness Program in joint partnership with the Boundary Waters Ecology Center. The International Wolf Center is just east of Ely, Minnesota on Hwy 169. For more information, contact the Center at 218-365-HOWL (4695), ext 23.
