December 15, 2010

The International Wolf Center and the North American Bear Center announced today that they will share a $10,000 Culture and Tourism matching grant from Iron Range Resources in 2011. Mary Somnis, community development representative from Iron Range Resources, wrote to both Centers notifying them of the award saying "we are enthusiastic about supporting the important work you are doing on behalf of culture and tourism in your community."

"We'd like to thank Iron Range Resources for selecting us for this generous grant and the Ely community for their support. We are excited to work with the North American Bear Center to raise the publicÕs awareness of both Centers, Ely and the surrounding area," said Mary Ortiz, executive director of the International Wolf Center.

The Centers will work together and use the grant to market and promote each organization to attract more visitors to the Ely area. "We are looking forward to working with the International Wolf Center to get our messages and information in front of a much broader audience. Hopefully this will bring many more visitors to each Center and to the 'Coolest Small Town in America'", said Lynn Rogers, executive director of the North American Bear Center.
