Event: Second annual 5K Nordic Walk for Wolves gives kids and adults the opportunity to support the educational mission of the International Wolf Center while experiencing the stunning effects of Nordic Walking.

Walk advances education as wolf population controversy continues
As debate deepens over the decision to take the gray wolf off the endangered species list, the purely educational mission of the International Wolf Center is more critical than ever. We provide thoughtful clarity and fact-based analysis as we teach the world about wolves. So, whether you love them or just fear them, this is a once a year opportunity to support non-political, scientific-driven education about this amazing, mystical, often misunderstood creature. Besides, what's more interesting than a charismatic carnivore with advanced social skills and runs in a pack?

Nordic Walking is the new cardio fitness workout
Nordic Walking adds an upper body workout engaging core muscles and gives walkers the potential of working 90% of the body's muscle groups. Nordic Walking is…

  • Less stressful to joints
  • Burns more calories
  • Increases oxygen consumption and heart rate
  • Adds stability and balance
  • Relaxes the mind while increasing coordination

Local Nordic Walking Expert, Linda Lemke, will put on a short pre-walk clinic so you will get the most out of your Walk for Wolves adventure. For those who love the hyper productive effects of Nordic Walking, A limited supply of Nordic poles will be provided free of charge. Don't want to "Nordic Walk?" Feel free to walk without them!

Special Feature
This year's walkers can increase their knowledge about wolves by answering the "scat or fact" question signs posted along the route. Fact or Scat? Wolves only howl at night during a full moon?

  • All attendees will also receive a free Wolf Center water bottle and an opportunity to become a member at a 30% discount!

Entrance Fee

  • 18 years of age and over - $25, ages 12-17- $10, under 12 - $5
  • All proceeds benefit the International Wolf Center
