USFWS Withdraws Plans to Remove Northern Rockies Wolves from Endangered Species List
Jessica Edberg -- International Wolf Center, 09/17/2008
According to media outlets, the federal government is planning to withdraw the final rule that delisted wolves in the Northern Rockies Distinct Population Segment earlier this year. U.S. District Judge Molloy would have to approve the settlement of the lawsuit filed by 12 advocacy groups against the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
This action would keep gray wolves in the Northern Rockies on the endangered species list as “endangered” with special exceptions and require the FWS to rework the proposal to delist this population.
